reviews
recently, i've been reading quite alot of novels.. found some quite good ones that can keep ur attention glued to it .. unlike some which gets long-winded after awhile. below are 2 books that i like the most:
Carrie Pil'by
by Carren Lissner
Product Description:
n. [kar-r? pil-b?] A person of high intelligence who struggles to make sense of the world as it relates to morality, relationships, sex and leaving her apartment.
"I wouldn't have such trouble adjusting to the world if the world made sense. Which it doesn't . . . Maybe the world should adjust to me."
Carrie Pilby doesn't fit in -- and she's pretty much given up trying. A year out of college and settling in to life in the big city, this nineteen-year-old genius believes everyone she meets is immoral, sex obsessed and hypocritical, and the only person she sees on a regular basis is her therapist. When he comes up with a five-point plan to help her discover the "positive aspects of social interaction," Carrie, who would rather stay home in bed, is forced to view the world in a new light.
See life through Carrie's eyes as she opens up to unusual characters, gets herself into compromising situations and casts her keen eye on the ways people interact. Filled with wry humor and insight, Carrie Pilby explores the trade-offs we all make to fit in.
My Say: A must-read. Carrie tells ya what the world really is. she voices out the thoughts that we never dare to say.. the frustrations and complicity of real life.
Weekend In Paris
by Robyn Sisman
Product Description:
Molly Clearwater had always wanted to escape the confines of her small-town upbringing to make a splash as a career woman in London. But somehow, working as a low-level assistant for the boorish Malcolm Figg wasn't nearly as fulfilling as she had hoped-until Malcolm offered her a "perk"-a free weekend business trip to Paris. She's ecstatic until she discovers that Malcolm's idea of "business" isn't exactly the same as hers. Horrified, Molly storms out of the office. With nothing else to lose, she impulsively boards a train to Paris, intent on treating herself to a long weekend in the City of Light.
Within moments of stepping onto the cobblestoned streets of Paris, Molly is swept up in an adventure that defies her imagination. From infiltrating a conference in a Cleopatra wig to sharing her deepest secret with a complete stranger, Molly's weekend away from her troubles turns into a dizzying voyage of passion and self-discovery, transforming her absolutely...
My Say: read it if you love chick-lit novels and PARIS.
After-thoughts: Im waiting for chong to lend me his Da Vinci Code by dan Brown. Oh, and if anyone of ya has any novels to recommend, do call/sms/email me ya? thanks~

constant raining
Friday was a night to remember. the first time i did bbqing in the rain. standing around the fire and sharing umbrellas.. :) though it was all so wet and cold, i had fun! there were tons of chicky wings, sambal squids, hotdogs, sweet potato, corn, marshmallows, chips..etc. the fire was hard to do and we started eating only around 10 plus.. guys did the bbqing and we gals, sit and eat. =p i feel bad but what to do? charcoal and bbq are not our forte. i thank andrew for preparing this bbq, serving us great food and standing over the burning charcoal grill all night long.. jie, jason, nizam, neo, jia feng helped out too.. adam was the chauffeur of the night. he was sending some of us to and fro and that really tire him out..
sad to say, there were only about 10 of us there.. some peeps couldn't make it and andrew was pretty upset about it. some peeps left around 1 plus and it was just me, nas, drew, adam, ervin, jie, jia feng and neo. even though the rain was pouring down all night. we ate all night too. ;) (the barbecued marshmallows was really gd! it was soft on the inside and melt in your mouth like molten vanilla. brillant~) we even started a indoor bbq under the shelter that we were sharing with another group of peeps.. we couldn't finish the wings though.. there were some sweet corn and squids leftovers too.. oh well, we did our best.
by morning, we were all worn out. still, we had to wait for the rental shop to open to return the bikes.. my wishful thinking of watching the sunrise was gone. i knew it wasn't really possible with the constant raining. but i had hoped there will be a miracle. *sigh*
adam then fetched me and nas back home first.. i guess the guys went home after that. my, was i tired. my fav dcp tee was stained with sambal sauce and charcoal. ugh. i bathe and washed my hair twice. it didn't help. my hair still smell like bbq stuff. went to bed soon after.

nightlife
went clubbing with mich and some guys 2 days ago.
wanted to go zouk but heard it was full house. went to music underground.
didn't like it. paid $10 cover charge and got a complimentary drink. had a vodka 7-up. dance a little. awkwardly. bad crowd. stayed till 12 plus. couldn't take it anymore. someone spilled his drink over my back. bloody hell. took off with mich, her bf and another friend.
decided to go check out rouge. didn't exactly know what were the charges etc. linger for a min or so. door bitch came and ask if she could help. said theres a charge for that day due to the eve of ph. if not its ladies night. age requirement? well, all pass. we hesitate. decided not to since mich and i was broke. started to walk away. bouncer called us to go in foc. lucky us.
stylish place. dance a little. not much crowd at that time. went downstairs and checked out alley/acid bar. cool. alley bar has an older crowd. caucasians. serious drinkers i think. acid bar was really nice. chill out area with comfy lounging area. the waiter. nas, he said his name was. chatted a little. average price for drinks - $15. a little steep. mich only had $10. i had $0. went back to rouge. after much discussion, decided to get drinks to stay longer. 1 for 1. $11 per housepour. couldn't find that $1. sigh. really thirsty by then. lingered for almost an hr like 2 idiots. doing nothing.
went back to "mu" to find mich's bf and gang. loathe that place. went hm after awhile. thank god.

mascara virgin
Ahhh!!! today is the 1st time i applied mascara on my short lashes, on my own.. and its a disaster! i crimped my lashes with shu uemura curler and used the maybelline mini brush that i bought so long ago. ugh. lashes are now sticking in weird angles.. tiny clumps on one lash and another. most probably due to the lousy crimping skills of mine. sigh. one thing that is true though, lashes does look longer after the effects of mascara. =p anyone who is an expert at this? please guide me. merci
p.s : chong is on his way to taiwan for a week.. im gonna miss him. hmmph. im so so bored. hows my 0415 gang doing? hope everybodys good. cya guys next fri.
