the wedding .
it was our first wedding dinner together.
i primped, powdered and coiffed everything to perfection.
my lbd, almost-perfect makeup and 4" Guess pumps.
running late, we cabbed all the way to yck and arrived in excitment.
the buzz, the chattering.. everyone is oh so happy..
groom is smiling, bride is happy though a little tired..
we were seated together with Ben's classmate and e latter's colleagues.. introductions were made.. and then we waited. chat.
finally, the bride/groom waltz in.. everyone clapped..
the dinner started.. and in bet the yum sengs / cheers..
however, what left me unsettled was the 'obligated claps' .. the tiny echo of emptiness towards hw much pple was celebrating for this couple.. that its almost as if they are just here for e dinner. even e food was scraped off in a flash. chomped down in a hurry.
what annoys me the most was, they had their ROM done with a registar.. and in such a holy and important event, when the solem was done.. everyone was chatting among themselves. loudly.
nobody cared what was going on on the stage. arent we all here to celebrate this joyous occation for this couple? ben says weddings are all like this these days. i beg to differ. perhaps i havent been to many.. but this is certainly e first time i've encountered such lousy and disrespectful guests.
it is truly terrible and upsetting if i were the bride/groom.
i pray my guests will not do the same to me.
however said, i had a great time yesterday.
like u said ezann, weddings are indeed lovely
Best wishes to Andy / Lifang

5) UN DIMANCHE À KIGALI (NC16)
(A Sunday in Kigali)
- French Movies (Mar 2008)

French Film at Alliance Francaise every Tuesday.
SYNOPSIS
Director: Robert Favreau
Cast: Luc Picard, Fatou N’Diaya, Céline Bonnier
Synopsis: Bernard Valcourt is a disillusioned journalist living in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. He’s there to make a film on AIDS while all around him the racial tensions between the Tutsis and Hutus grow. At the Hôtel Des Mille Collines, headquarters for the Western expatriates, he finds a source of inspiration in Gentille, a shy and beautiful waitress. The attraction is mutual but the first steps hesitant. They’re so different: she, so young, he so white. When the violence erupts, Bernard and Gentille are brutally separated. A few months later, nearly a million Rwandans massacred, Valcourt returns to Kigali, looking desperately for the woman he loves. Between the beauty of the love story and the horror of the genocide, Un dimanche à Kigali depicts with clear mindedness and compassion, the best and the worst of humanity.
So many.. someone tell me how to choose.. and upcoming Singapore Arts Festival in May! Woo-hoooooo!

The Leap Years .

it wasnt what i expected to be. nor did it exceed my expectation.
The story unfolds w a narrator.. main characters converse through poetic conversations.. which sways one to relish the romance that one doesnt encounter in our daily life. Emotions were shown to express the sorrow, anguish, happiness. However, though i teared in the end, somewhat something was missing. Maybe the emotions werent portrayed deep enough.. not good enough to show the frustration/weari-ness of waiting every 4 years. certain emotions were swept across and not implored deep throughout. To add on, Corrine May gave the movie a great push with her soulful voice.
Not a heavy movie that leaves you aching for the characters when the credits roll.
Still, its a love story that will touched the hearts of you and i.

Mercedes-Benz Mixed Tape .
THIS IS FREAKING AWESOMEEEE.
Mercedes-Benz Mixed Tape is back with the 19th collection.
Featuring an introduction on the Mixed Tape Music Magazine, an innovative online TV show featuring audiovisual highlights from around the world.
This month’s theme is ‚Modern Vintage‘.
While the term might conjure up classic cars, exquisite wines or seasoned favourites from Rock, Pop, Soul or Jazz, vintage simply means that something is classic, typical, rooted in a specific era.
Our prime selection of Modern Vintage reaches from newcomer Natalie Gardiner and super star Jennifer Lopez to hyped New Wave duo Ting Tings or Amy Winehouse’s Grammy-winning producer Mark Ronson, who roped in Lily Allen for his reinterpretation of a Kaizer Chiefs favourite. And that’s not all: Listen out for a true modern classic by 4hero and the Finnish Rare Grooves of Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators.
- quoted from Mercedes-benz
I personally like Nicole Willis and the so-80s-pop Ting Tings.
And, even though i heard this on radio before.. upon closer hearing again.. given that the producer is so famous.. i realised the instruments used and style of music incorporated is AMAZINGGG.. e saxophone? e shakes.. electronic keyboard, guitar..
and to think i was still wondering whos the cute animated girly they drawn.. and alas, Lily Allen herself. didnt recognise her voice though. seems to be kinda different from 'Smile'..
Oh My God by Mark Ronson Feat. Lily Allen
Thats all folks!
[Mixed Tape serves as a platform for promising new talents who deserve our recognition and support. So, if you enjoy their tunes, pls spread the word!]
